About IEYC

We are an enthusiastic 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization fueled by the incredible support of corporate sponsorships, which contribute 5% of their total product sales to this organization.

We’re on a mission to collaborate with public and private schools to launch exciting National and regional IEYC Chapters, select passionate Environmental Youth Ambassadors, and host inspiring Environmental Youth Summits that include amazing international student exchange programs across states and countries.

With the help of our fantastic corporate sponsors, we secure vital educational funding and distribute engaging environmental education curricula and materials for K-12 students. We proudly partner with other leading nonprofit environmental and educational organizations to amplify our impact, bringing together schools, families, and leaders from around the globe to inspire a brighter, more sustainable future and promote choices for consumers and producers alike!

IEYC Goals

  • Empower children and young adults to become educators for a better world.

  • Prioritize environmental protection affecting people, wildlife conservation, and sustainability.

  • Aim to diminish harm caused by plastics on land, aquatic, and marine ecosystems.

  • Work to eliminate health issues associated with plastics.

  • Reduce wildlife suffering and mortality due to plastic pollution.

  • Advocate for innovative methods to process plastic waste, lowering energy consumption and pollution.

  • Support initiatives to recover and process plastic waste that has been landfilled or escaped into the environment.

  • Promote the conversion of plastic waste into eco-friendly products that are better than many existing plastic items.

Environmental Education History

In 1991, Japan officially established environmental education (EE) in schools through the release of the Teacher's Guide for Environmental Education.

The following year, "Living Environment Studies" was introduced for first and second graders in Japan. Since 1992, numerous First and Second World countries have incorporated Environmental Education as a standard component of their K-12 school curriculum.

As of 2025, the US still lacks an official environmental education (EE) curriculum in K-12 schools.
